360Flex Want a full day of Flex training for free?

We hate the whole nickel and diming of attendees for "pre-conference workshops" or "post-conference repeats".

We've noticed these extra-curricular activities can sometimes cost as much or more than the conference registration. What's the point of charging for these? Nothing comes to our minds, other than conferences wanting higher profits. While we're all for profits (which company isn't?), we think there's a limit to have to achieve it. Overcharging is not a valid path to profitability in our books.

Therefore, we'll be offering a free extra day of Flex 101 hands-on training as part of your conference registration. No extra charge, no hidden fees, no adjustable rate after six months, nothing. Want a day of 101 training on Flex to get you up to speed before the conference? Show up Sunday and get it. Then when the conference starts Monday and you want/need more, we will still have our Hands-On Track to enjoy.

The real benefit of doing the 101 training on the Sunday before the show is for those needing either a refresher on Flex or a quick introduction. Now you won't miss out on Monday's sessions. Plus, with the newbie training being on Sunday, this allows for us to venture into more advanced hands-on sessions during the conference.

Many things, like this, set us apart from other conferences. We'll be talking about some of those differences later, but we're always looking for more ways to improve. If you have an idea on how to make the conference better for you, don't hesitate to drop a comment here, an email to info@360flex.com or join the yahoo group.

If you think this is a good idea, help us get the word out. Blog it and tell your friends. Sunday all day Flex 101 training, included in the price of registration, which in case you've forgotten, is $480.00 for a single registration or $1500 for a team of four.

Just a thought...regarding the price increase.

Why not build a following by give a $25 discount to attendees of the prior year.

:-)

@the Saj,

We've talked about but frankly we (more me, maybe) hate that idea.

1. logistics, it's one more type of ticket, and we'd have to validate the attendee to make sure we weren't being gamed, that's a lot of hassle.

2. and more important to me, it creates an additional barrier for n00bs. "Crap, I have to pay more since I'm new?" That never seemed fair to me. If anything the n00bs need an incentive to attend, the alums know we're the best game in town ;).

It's not a closed door, but not something we're looking at right now. I'm against pricing schemes, in general. Early bird, weekend extras, alum discounts, it's all just lame ways to trick people to attend. I think those schemes are disingenuous to the attendee.

What's deal with the "30% Sold" text in the blue horizontal bar at the top of the screen? Is that a broken link or a broken scrolling markee or something? When I mouse over the text it looks like a link, but it wont let me do anything. Seems like something is missing because I have no idea what "30% Sold" means as a first time visitor from a link sent by a co-worker.

If someone wants me to pay money for a class on web related stuff I at least expect their web site to be in top shape. It kind of gives a false impression of the teachings. However, I could be totally over looking something obvious.

@eric

it's text. no scrolling, blinking, moving or linking. it's text. It's text that says we're currently 30% sold for our conference. I've never moused over it, but yeah it does have an underline, no idea. Probably just the blogger template.

The site is actually about Flex development, not html development, and it's a conference, not just a training class.

Sorry for the confusion.

Having the free intro class is a great idea! What time should we get there on Sunday? Is it structured, or a drift-in-and-out thing?

@Anonymous

It will be structured and go from 9 am to 5 pm. We'll do another blog post with more details soon. Stay tuned!
