360|Flex San Jose API Contest is Looking for Sponsors

Do you have a cool set of APIs? Do you want some of the world's top
Flex programmers to work with your API to see how they hold up? Maybe
you'd like to see what cool apps a Flex/AIR developer can make with
your APIs?

If any of that rings true, then you should become an official sponsor
of the 360|Flex San Jose API Contest. With nearly 400 attendees and
thousands of visitors to the site, this is a great opportunity to let
the Adobe RIA community know that you not only have an API, but that
you support the tools of their choice.

The fee is $1500 plus you supply a game console as the prize for your
API category. Last time, we had Ribbit, eBay and Degrafa. This time
will surely be bigger and better. Don't be left out.

In addition to seeing how your APIs hold up, this would be a great
opportunity to help you find some much needed talent for your company.
See one killer entry, why not approach them with a job offer?

We also have other sponsorship opportunities as well. More info on
those can be found here.

For you Flex/AIR developers out there, fire up your Flex Builder and
get ready to try and win one of the great prizes. Also, don't forget
to register as we'll likely lock down speakers and hotel info soon.
After that, tickets will start to move fast.

Any questions or for further info, email info@360flex.com

360Flex why the 18th and not the 17th?

Sorry about the confusion there. We briefly advertised the conference as starting on Sunday, the 17th, and not Monday, the 18th. Now, we're going back to our traditional Monday to Wednesday date schedule.

We were going to make Sunday an "official" part of the conference, but then we retracted. Why? Because the Free Pre-Conference training isn't meant to count as a full day of the conference. It's there for those that want some additional Flex 101 training before the "main event". However, we wanted to make sure attendees were not expecting a full day of sessions on Sunday.

In addition to the 101 Training, we're looking at lining up some sponsored vendor specific training. This will be of interest to those looking to get up to speed on a particular vendor's product. If there's a product you'd like to see some training on, drop their name in the comments. If you're a vendor who wants to sponsor one of the few slots to do vendor specific training, drop us an email at info@360flex.com.

One thing to remember, Sunday night is the traditional Welcome Reception. This is a chance to grab a bite to eat and share a few drinks with your fellow attendees. This way, everyone is buddy-buddy come Monday morning. Once again, not required attendance but we think it's fun. :)

Don't have your ticket yet? Whatcha waiting for? Register now.

360Flex San Jose Schedule

We've long been harassed by our attendees for not giving them enough information about the session topics. Those days are now over. We hope you think our new eProgram is as cool as we think it is. We'll be adding other information (additional speakers, day/time of session, Birds of a Feather meetings, Party info, Reg Desk info, venue map, etc.) as we near the show date.

360|Flex San Jose 2008 eProgam Guide

360|Flex San Jose 2008 Daily Schedule

Take a look and give us your first impression. Does this help you better choose which sessions to attend? If a speaker's description isn't clear enough, let us know and we'll have them expand on it.

If there's anything you'd like for us to add to the eProgram, just drop it in the comments. We're pretty excited to offer this moving forward, so we want it to be useful to you in whatever way you see fit.

Want to be a speaker? Go here for more info.

As you can see, we're improving the show yet again. This will be the best 360|Flex to date. You won't want to miss out so buy your tickets now!

360Flex San Jose Call for Speakers

In case you missed it, 360|Flex has announced it's next stop. We will be returning home to the place where it all began: eBay's Headquarters in San Jose. The setting will be beautiful, but without top notch speakers, it'll be a pretty boring conference. Therefore, if you think it's time that you shared some of your brilliant knowledge, by all means step up. 360|Flex is on of the few conferences that seems to home grow they're own speakers. Our attendees get so jazzed about what they learned at a show that they come back and share their newfound expertise at the next show.

Check out the current speaker/session roster via our new eProgram book.

The process to become a speaker is rather painless. You send an email to admin@360flex.com with the following information:

Full Name - Official or Preferred Name
Email Address - If different then the one you mail from
Blog Link - We attach this to your name
Session Title - The title of your proposed session
Session Description - A 1 paragraph description of your proposed session
Session Level - A rating between 100 (Beginner) to 400 (Advanced)

If accepted, you get the following:

- Free registration (of course)
- Free Hotel accomodations for 3 nights (airfare/busfare is on you)
- Name on the website with a link to your blog
- Invitation to the Speaker/Sponsor dinner on Sunday evening
- Session entry in the eProgram
- Bio information in the eProgram

We look forward to hearing from you. However, you better hurry. Almost half the spots are already spoken for!

Don't want to speak, but want to just learn from the great speakers? No worries, register for the conference as an attendee, but do so quickly before it sells out. Register now!

360Flex API Contest results!

If you were at the keynote in Milan, you got to see the winning entries in the first ever 360|Flex API Contest!

If you weren't fortunate enough to be in Milan with us (missed a good event), you'll just have to scroll down. :)

In the eBay category: Thai Huynh with eBay lite! Congrats!

In the Ribbit category: Andy Powell's Hotel Search & Call

And the last category...... The Degrafa/Community category: Tony Fenndall with PostaCard!
We'll be contacting everyone and setting up delivery of "the goods". We'll also be making changes to how voting is handled (no voting many times a day, for yourself) and things like that. This was very much a 1.0 attempt.

We really like the idea and bringing people out to show off their skills, as well as highlighting really cool API's, so look for our San Jose contest to be stronger, better, faster, than the ATL/Europe contest. If you have an API you want to showcase, then drop us a note about it to info@360flex.com.

We also want to give another special thanks, to Ribbit eBay, and Degrafa for letting us extend the contest. We really appreciate it. We received several more entries during the extra month and all were really great examples of the technologies. To those who didn't win, don't think your apps aren't worthy, they all rocked! We loved them all!

Congrats to the winners!!! Look for an email regarding your prizes!

And speaking of eBay, if you haven't heard yet, they'll be playing host to 360Flex yet again in August. People love the eBay campus, so look for these tickets to go fast. Sign up now!

360Flex next stop....

We're heading back to where it all started...

Koi ponds, BBQ (dogs and burgers, not pulled pork), sunny days, Sim with his own stein, plain white signage, and everything else that "started it all".

SAN JOSE CA!!!
That's right, boys and girls. We're heading back to beautiful San Jose and the eBay Town Hall. Ebay is graciously hosting us again at their kick ass town hall facility right in the heart of Silicon Valley!

When? August 17-20, 2008!

Four days? That's right, we're going to repeat the crazy successful FREE pre-conference training on Sunday. Get brushed up on you. (oops, we've been in Europe too long aleady!)

Cost? Same as Atlanta! $480.00 (Though if you thought Atlanta was great, just wait!!!)

What's in store? Who can say? Tom and I usually don't decide what we're doing until right before the conference. The ClueTrain Manifesto, we bought those right before we left for Atlanta. We're like that :) You can be assured though, that we'll continue our tradition of being the best Flex/AIR conference in the world. (Hey, we just did Europe, so yes it is the world!) You'll get the best speakers in the industry, with the best session topics, the best food ;), the most community involvement, and most importantly the least 'lost in an ocean of people' feeling, that is common at larger events.

Tom is looking forward to the BBQ again. (Thanks for that picture Ed!) It's hard to believe that 360|Flex occurred 4 times in little over a year (Mar 07 - San Jose, Aug 07 - Seattle, Feb 08 - Atlanta, Apr 08 - Milan). The community has grown so much in size and in technical knowledge. We can't wait to see what new knowledge the San Jose event will bring.

The last San Jose event sold out in record time due to the 400 ticket max limit. If you're gonna want to come, you better sign up quick. No emailing us "Come on, how about 1 more ticket?" Our hands will be tied and we'll say, "You were warned when we announced it." See you at San Jose!
